The Role

The person in this role will be responsible for the overall control, professionalism, management and safeguarding of the workshop and associated stock holding areas. 


Duties of the Role

  • Receiving, storing and total responsibility for goods inwards/out, packing and unpacking of goods.  This includes ensuring that goods are not damaged and that everything ordered is present and accounted for
  • Picking of components in readiness for despatch
  • Liaising with planning department to expedite parts and equipment needed for jobs
  • Management of stores systems
  • Assisting and performing stock checks/audits
  • Ensuring the safety and security of stock and equipment.  This takes the form of ensuring that there are adequate security systems in place and enforcing Health and Safety practices.  This also includes keeping the workshop and stock areas clean and tidy
  • Ensuring the safe loading and unloading of materials onto vehicles and assisting colleagues in this task where necessary
  • Deliveries/pickups may sometimes be required in company pool vehicles
  • Daily management of courier system and making labels to suit
  • Keeping the workshop and associated areas clean and tidy
  • Managing the waste skips and ensuring that materials are correctly disposed of in the appropriate skips/bin to ensure no contamination
  • Locking/unlocking of workshop as required
  • Performing other reasonable duties when asked to do so by management


Preferable Skills

  • Experience in such a role
  • Full and clean driving license necessary
  • Overhead Crane and slinging training/license
  • Forklift Truck/counterbalance licence
  • H&S Awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with challenges in a professional and calm manner
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrate ability to communicate with people face to face, on the telephone, and via written communication
  • Ability to take ownership for all related enquiries received and see through to full resolution
  • Confidence to use initiative and make sound decisions
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritise
  • Conversant with stock systems
