What makes a solution?

SCX Special Projects provides quality bespoke mechanical handling solutions, expertly engineered for the task in hand and developed through open and honest consultation with the client, so that the final solution becomes not just an answer to an enquiry, but exactly what you need.

Quality

The high level of Quality in every SCX Special Projects solution is due in part to our involvement in the Nuclear industry; working to Nuclear safety demands has deepened our inherent culture of attention to detail, accuracy and focus on client needs.

Rigorous Standards

Nuclear projects follow a specific path as set out by industry norms, but the main principles can be applied to any other bespoke handling project that we undertake.

The optimum solution is determined during the optioneering phase which can include design feasibility studies on any or all of the proposed concepts. From here, identification, analysis and resolution of any potential hazards or risks in function, component parts and operability of a solution ensures that everything practicable has been done with regards to safety. The evidence that all materials, people and processes have been fully evaluated and approved informs the design justification report, in order to provide the client with full safety assurance.

As the project progresses, all actions are referenced back to the client’s initial requirements to ensure the final solution will meet their every need. However, discoveries can be made across the life of a project which can identify additional requirements or possibilities, and so adaptations can be made to incorporate these, yet without compromise on safety or function.

Turnkey Solutions

SCX Special Projects has an unparalleled ability to provide a turnkey package direct to the client;from concept to commissioning, and beyond. Our extensive Assembly & Test Facilities enable us to manufacture the solutions we design which allows for an extremely high level of control and consistency between the design and build phases of a project. This makes our clients’ procurement process not only simpler, but more efficient.

As part of the commissioning phase, SCX Special Projects supplies operation & maintenance manuals, critical spares and examination, maintenance, inspection and testing schedules to facilitate continued reliability for the life of the equipment. If clients are unable to undertake the recommended maintenance schedule themselves, SCX Group company Street CraneXpress, provides planned preventative maintenance, a service that is vital in order to minimise the risk of expensive downtime or failure.

People

The success of any project depends upon the people involved. As a member of LEEA, all our people routinely undergo (LEEA) industry approved LOLER/PUWER Training, to understand the legal requirements and implications of the lifting industry, and many are members of various professional associations including the IMechE, APM and IEMA, facilitating shared knowledge and the development of fresh thinking, inspiration and innovation.

Our commitment to continuous improvement, which involves regular auditing of our systems, processes and procedures, also incorporates continuous personal development which ensures all our employees have the knowledge, skills and desire to do the best possible job for our clients. This includes project-specific training requested by clients, for example site-specific safety training.

Underpinning all of this is an ethos of innovation with accuracy, developed from the stringent requirements of the Nuclear industry. This, and the customer-centric focus that has propagated our success to date, is habitually applied to every project that our people undertake.
