After an "Absolutely fantastic" weekend of cycling, the team managed to complete the C2C course. They spent 7½ hours each day on the road, which included breaks for lunch and the occasional rest, meaning they spent a total of 12 hours cycling across the two days, at an average speed of 13mph. Well done lads!

Three of the SCX Group’s engineers are taking part in a feat of endurance by cycling ‘Coast-to-Coast’ in just two days, both for the physical challenge and as an opportunity to raise money for a good cause.
On the 11th and 12th August, Darren Bunker, Johnny Stephenson and Danny Pickard plan to cycle 160 miles uphill and down-dale on the tough but scenic route from Whitehaven to Whitby;across the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and then the North York Moors.
Their first long trip, the newly formed ‘SCX Spinners’ are a mixed bunch. Darren is the hard-core triathlon-loving endurance enthusiast, whilst Johnny and Danny are his somewhat less-prepared apprentices. The team will be ably assisted by colleague John Hill as their one-man-support-crew, supplying them with Kendal mint cake, energy drinks and lots of encouragement, in a company vehicle on loan from SCX’s owner and MD Simon Eastwood, who also sponsored the team kit. “It’s a great cause,” said Simon, “and I’m thrilled to see the SCX team ethic extending outside the working environment.”
SCX Applications Engineer Danny Pickard, who pioneered the idea, added: “Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield is one of only four dedicated cancer hospitals in England. Both Darren and I have experienced first-hand the levels of care and support for both patients and family members alike, so it’s an apt cause for our first big challenge. It’ll be tough keeping up with Darren, but if we can use his slipstream Johnny and I might just make it!”
